Assistant Program Director Becky Heron is the newest member to our leadership team, and has been eagerly awaiting this position for many years. Becky encompasses the Scugog Spirit like none other with her enthusiasm, positivity and charisma. She is an incredibly dedicated, hard working and motivated young woman with excellent problem solving and communication skills which makes her an excellent role model for both campers and staff. Becky has been a part of our Scugog family since childhood, and is able to connect with our campers in a very unique way. She is a graduate of our leadership program, and worked as a counselor before moving to co-waterfront director, and now assistant program director. The patience and care she shows towards all of our campers is really special and is a great reflection of her kindness and generosity. We are looking forward to having Becky help lead us into summer 2011, this is her time to shine!
Programmer Jo Saunders is our Australian super leader! Prior to summer 2011 she was on staff for only two years and had not intended to return this camping season. After a short two day visit however (coming all of the way from Nova Scotia), she simply could not leave. Jo has now joined us for session four and five as our programmer, and has flawlessly connected with and helped lead our staff team. Her natural abilities with groups and charming demeanour are outstanding. Jo has an infectiously fun attitude, and is brimming with small group games and creative ideas that can bring excitement to any situation. As a teacher, Jo is able to bring maturity and respect to this position and treats staff and campers with the compassion that they deserve. Jo has a unique ability to disarm those around her with positivity and kindness. She is truly a natural leader who is bright and energetic. We are blessed to have her as part of the Scugog community and are thrilled that she has stayed to help lead us through summer 2011.
Leadership Co-Director, Emily Clark has seen it all. A camper since birth, Emily has spent her entire life learning the ins and outs of camp. With passion and enthusiasm, Emily encourages campers and staff to do and be their best. Continuing her momentum of encouragement, Emily guides her leaders in training throughout the winter months during our yearlong program. Most significantly, Emily plays the role of teacher. Whether it is daily swimming lessons or spontaneous teachable moments, Emily utilizes her excellent problem solving skills to inspire her campers to persevere. Even though Emily has grown up at camp, it is clear that this is just the beginning.
Leadership Co-Director, Chloe Wyman is unforgettable to all who have met her. Her compassion and empathy for others sets her apart as she takes individual time for campers and staff alike. Chloe is always available for a shoulder to lean on, a skill she continues during our year round program. As a camper since the age of 7, Chloe is aware of the struggles and challenges that both campers and staff face and takes the individual time to ensure everyone is safe and cared for. Chloe truly creates a nurturing and inclusive environment where children are able to relax and be themselves.
