Programs at Lake Scugog Camp

Children's Program

At Lake Scugog Camp, our commitment to offering one staff for every two campers allows us to have a highly manageable program and gives us the ability to provide our campers with the attention and care that they need and deserve. We have two ten day sessions each summer which are specifically designed to provide children with a safe, fun and nurturing environment. At Scugog, we understand the important role that the natural environment plays in children’s development. We believe that children deserve to play uninhibited, should be free to be themselves, and have the chance to discover and grow, which is why we have tailored our children’s programming around the specific needs of children aged 7 to 12. We strive to provide an inclusive environment where campers are able to simply ‘be kids’.

Teens Program

Our summer starts with a bang as sixty 12 to 16 year olds join us for the week of a lifetime! This ten day session has been specially designed to meet the ever changing needs of today’s youth. Our program is committed to building friendships and a community that fosters self esteem and self worth. We aim to create positive attitudes and relationships that move youth forward into the future. The Lake Scugog staff are constantly aware of their important role as friend, mentor and role model ensuring that campers maximize both their fun and growth throughout the week. Our goal is to give teens an incredible week where they learn future skills, attitudes and understandings that will be of help to them in their homes and communities.

Mothers and Children Program

One of the longstanding traditions at Lake Scugog Camp is our program for mothers and children. These sessions provide opportunities for mothers and their children to spend time together in a creative and supportive outdoor environment. During the day, separate programming is offered to mothers and children so our mothers are able to enjoy the company of other adults, while their children gain independence in our protected community, where safety is a priority. New skills and strong communities are fostered at camp to help our mothers and children throughout the winter months. Each mother is accommodated, along with her children in a cabin shared with another family. Lake Scugog Camp believes that the experience offered in the Mothers and Children's camp plays an important role in strengthening family life.
