Programs at Lake Scugog Camp

Teens and Children Program

At Lake Scugog Camp, our commitment to offering one staff for every two campers allows us to have a highly manageable program and gives us the ability to give our campers the one on one attention that they deserve. Our children and teens program is committed to building friendships and community that foster self esteem and self worth. We aim to create positive attitudes and relationships that move children forward into the future. Our goal is to give children and teens a fun week where they learn future skills and are able to simply be 'kids' in a positive, safe, fun environment.

Mothers and Children Program

One of the longstanding traditions at Lake Scugog Camp is our program for mothers and children. These sessions provide opportunities for mothers and their children to spend time together in a creative and supportive outdoor environment. During the day, separate programming is offered to mothers and children so our mothers are able to enjoy the company of other adults, while their children gain independence in our protected community, where safety is a priority. New skills and strong communities are fostered at camp to help our mothers and children throughout the winter months. Each mother is accommodated, along with her children in a cabin shared with another family. Lake Scugog Camp believes that the experience offered in the Mothers and Children's camp plays an important role in strengthening family life.

Leadership Program

Lake Scugog Camp has offered a Leader in Training (LIT) program for youth ages 15 - 17 since 1994. The success of this program has been tremendous and we are committed to its continuance. This two year program focuses on developing skills at different levels each summer. Every summer a weeklong trip is planned with the LITs, alternating between canoeing and hiking each year. This program produces many of our present valued staff, as well as effective community members.

Leaders in Training

In recent years, our leadership program has extended into the off season. Our LIT's meet monthly to learn new skills and continue the personal growth from the summer. From winter camping, to volunteering, to resume writing workshops, our year long program aims to foster community, growth and friendship.
